Virginia Tech alumni in the DC Metro area play sports in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) and WAKA leagues year-round.

If you are interested in playing and want more information, you may sign-up and pay any team fees on-line during our open enrollment.  You may also contact our Sports Teams Chair, Jason Soules, at sports@ncrhokies.org or 1-877-465-4395, Extension 722. Below are our current teams:

Basketball (5v5, co-ed)

Coach: Harry Sherman
Season: January - March
Alexandria schools on weeknights
2 women and 3 men per team
Cost: $25/player

Volleyball Recreational & Competitive (6v6, co-ed)

Coach: Tam Bui (Recreational), Steve Denslow (Competitive)
Season: January - March
Hoops Magic in Chantilly on Sunday afternoons
Indoor; 3 women & 3 men / team
Cost: $50-$60/player

Softball (10v10, co-ed)

Contact: Chris Forys
Season: April - August
Downtown DC, Ellipse or Monument grounds on weeknights & a few weekends
Slow-pitch; 3 women & 7 men / team
Cost: Free for regular season, ~$40 for tournament

Flag Football (8v8, co-ed)

Coaches: Jason Soules
Season: September - December
Anacostia Park
3 women & 5 men / team
Cost: Free for regular season, ~$35 for tournament

Soccer (11v11, co-ed)

Coaches: Chris Geoghegan
Season: April - August
Hains Point in East Potomac Park
3 women & 8 men on the field at a time
Cost: ~$60/player

Kickball (11v11, co-ed)

Coaches:  Steven Boyd 
Season: April - November
DC Monument grounds
4 women & 7 men per team
Cost: $60/player
