Details: The NCR Hokies are engaging in our second friendly competion with the DC Hoos chapter to collect new children's books for USO's United Through Reading Program. We will be collecting books through the Tech-UVa game Nov. 30th, when we will claim victory of over UVa (like our football team does every year!)

The United Through Reading program sends books to deployed military personnel around the world. The books are read on camera by parents of children stateside with the book and a DVD of the reading sent to the family. Here is a list of requested books from USO:

Get Involved:

  • Donate an amazon.com or Barnes & Noble gift card. 
    Simply email James.freeman@ncrhokies.org and list James Freeman, Virginia Tech Alumni Association as the recipient whatever amount you wish to donate.
  • Bring a new children’s book to a football game watching party at A-Town Bar and Grill in Arlington (October 26; November 2, 9 and 16)

  • Drop off a book at VT’s grad center in Falls Church (7054 Haycock Road, Suite 200) or VT’s research center in Ballston (900 N. Glebe Road).
