The Capital Alumni Network (CAN) softball season starts the week of April 12, 2010. The regular season consists of 14 games; 9 of these games will be played on weeknights at 6:30PM on the Washington Monument grounds (the weekday varies from week to week), and the other 5 will be played on two different Saturdays (a doubleheader on June 19 and a tripleheader on July 17). The league consists of 68 teams from various alumni organizations of schools across the country. The season concludes with a three-day double-elimination tournament on August 14, 15, and 21 at the NASA Goddard fields in Greenbelt, MD (you must play in 5 of the 14 regular season games to be eligible to play in the tournament). Game play is 10-on-10 with 7 males and 3 females (minimum) on the field with the ability to add extra hitters to the lineup with a ratio of 2 males to 1 female. Like many other softball leagues, we follow the ASA rules (with some minor modifications). The league rules can also be found on the CAN website.
